Free Graphics and Multimedia Courseware Collections
For training tutorials and extra resources to help with graphic design, computer imaging and general multimedia design skills, consider taking classes through open courseware. Open courseware provides a range of materials and support for students and individuals in graphics or multimedia design and development, from learning new practical skills to understanding the history of the field. Schools like MIT, De Paul University, Paris Tech Graduate School, Miami Dade College and Tufts University offer courses online that feature real syllabi, lecture notes, links to extra study materials and other design and computer resources. Classes like Special Topics in Multimedia Production: Experiences in Interactive Art and Multimedia and World Wide Web introduce students to interactive and digital art and help them learn how to work with JavaScript, CSS, HTML and other must-know systems.
Other courses, like Graphic Design at Miami Dade College and Three-Dimensional Modeling, Animation and Rendering Using Blender 3D Software, offered by Tufts University, expose students to specific graphic design concepts and techniques. Students wanting training in data imaging and image formation will also find appropriate courses to help them prepare for a college program, new job, or personal design and development project. Courses are available through iTunes and online, so it’s easy for students to complete their coursework on their own schedule. Courses can be found by searching through a school’s technology, engineering or media departments on open courseware.
