Founded in 1893 by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, Marylhurst is Oregon’s oldest Catholic institution of higher learning. The school was originally started as a place for local women to gain higher education, but throughout the years, the school has expanded to admit male students as well as to offer a much wider variety of undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The main campus of the school is located in Portland, Oregon, though students can attend classes online as well.
Marylhurst University is well-ranked in the U.S. News & World Report due to its high quality faculty, dedicated staff and smaller class sizes. The school has been in the “Best Colleges” rankings for over six years, making it an attractive choice for both online and offline learners. Faculty at the university are both teachers and current professionals working in their fields of expertise, bringing real world experience into the classroom.
Students attending classes online will have access to this same experienced faculty as well as the advantage of taking courses from a school with experience in delivering distance learning programs since 1996. Students will interact with their teachers, other students and Marylhurst staff in the easy-to-use online environment. Students can work towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree online or get a leg up in their careers with a professional certification program. Some of the majors available online are Business and Leadership, Real Estate Studies and Business Administration.
