Ohio Christian University Program Review
Ohio Christian University is a Christ-centered institution of higher education that wants to prepare students for careers and to serve in their communities by providing a broad educational foundation that is integrated with biblical values. Students will learn more about their career fields, themselves and their spirituality through a student focused curriculum that places great emphasis on leadership skills and service.
In 1948, Mount Praise Bible College was founded and formed the basis of what would later become Ohio Christian University. Originally, the school trained ministers for the Churches of Christ in Christian Union, a religious group founded in 1909. Since 2006, this Circleville, Ohio, college has been known by its present name and has awarded degrees in many fields.
As a Christian university, students will enjoy a range of Christian-centered programs at OCU. Working with its affiliation with the Churches of Christ in Christian Union, the school offers courses in ministry as well as religiously centered business programs. Students will work within the school and their community to complete these programs and can benefit from many service opportunities in the local and global community.
This sense of community is echoed in OCU’s online programs. When students enter the university they will be placed in a groups that are referred to by the school as cohorts. Students will go through their entire program with this same group of students, allowing them to get to know one another and work together as a group more effectively. Students will take one course at a time, and programs are taken asynchronously so that students can study and complete assignments when it fits into their weekly routines. Online degrees are available at the Associate’s level in Business Management and Christian Ministry.
