South University has a dedication to academic excellence and helping students to reach their true academic potential. The school wants to create programs that are flexible but still provide students with the tools, resources and foundation that they’ll need to be successful, productive members of society and their professional fields. South University wants to help students from diverse backgrounds all over the world meet and exceed their goals and aspirations.
South University has its beginnings in a Masonic Lodge, when Dr. John Draughon established Draughon's Practical Business College in 1899. The university has long since moved to a new home, locating its current campus in downtown Savannah, Georgia. This isn’t the school’s only campus; it also has locations in West Palm Beach, Florida, Montgomery, Alabama, and Columbia, South Carolina. The school launched its online division in 2004 and has continued to expand its online offerings in the years since.
Students at South University Online will be joining a rapidly growing number of online education programs. South University hopes to stand out among these online learning programs, and to provide students with an outstanding learning environment. Distance learning programs at South University have been nationally recognized for providing high quality, flexible learning experiences, especially in the fields of Information Technology and Criminal Justice.
Online classes with South University can allow students to pursue an accelerated pace of study and to get their degrees more quickly than with in class programs. Students will be able to do work any time they would like and will have access to resources like an online library, a professional networking group, and student discussion forums. Additionally, all online faculty have been specially trained through the Socrates Distance Learning Technologies Group to ensure that students get the highest quality educational experience possible. Online degree programs are available at the Associate’s, Bachelor’s and Master’s degree levels in fields like Business Administration, Criminal Justice and Information Technology.
