Founded in 1910, Bowling Green State University is a state university that today enrolls approximately 21,000 students, including graduate students and evening students. BGSU's main campus is situated on 1,338 acres in Bowling Green, OH, about 23 miles south of Toledo. The school's second campus is known as BGSU Firelands College, and was founded in 1968 in Huron, OH. Over 900 full-time faculty members teach at BGSU and remain active in the more than 200 undergraduate programs, 68 Master's programs, 2 specialist degree programs and 16 doctoral degree programs. Notable alumni from BGSU include Emmy award winners, an Olympic gold medalist, a Pulitzer Prize winner, an NBA player and more.

Students at BGSU take classes in the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Education, and Human Development, Health and Human Services, Musical Arts, and Technology, as well as at the Graduate College and BGSU Firelands College. Ambitious students can also participate in the Honors Program or in projects at the various research centers on campus. BGSU also offers a distance learning program for students who cannot attend classes on campus.
