Students, faculty and staff at Centenary College make up a strong community of intellectual, creative learners actively pursuing leading edge academic and professional programs, advanced technology services and extracurricular activities. The school is continuously evolving its vision to reflect increased globalization and encouraging its students to become leaders in all walks of life.
Centenary College was founded in 1867 by the Newark Conference of the United Methodist Church in Hackettstown, NJ. The school was initially organized as a co-educational preparatory school but became a junior college for women in 19140, a four-year women's college in 1976, and a co-ed four-year college in 1988. In 1995, Centenary College was accredited to give Master's level degrees as well. Four years later, the school extended its educational resources to reflect its pledge to support lifelong learning. The Center for Adult and Professional Studies is located in Parsippany, NJ, and offers accelerated degree programs for working adults.
Centenary College offers a range of quality academic programs in business, communication and the fine arts, social sciences, education, mathematics and natural sciences, and English. Specific majors and degree programs include Fashion Design, Accounting, Liberal Arts, Graphic Design and Multimedia Arts, Equine Science, Theater Arts, Biology, Social Work, Mathematics, Educational Leadership, Special Education, History, English Literature, Counseling, and Art and Design. Some of these programs offer students the opportunity to customize their degrees through concentrations.
The school's global perspective has inspired several international programs, including partnerships with colleges in Canada; a British-Sino Adult Education Program that sponsors MBA programs through the British-Sino Century Institute; China Adult Education Programs; and an international studies program that welcomes students to Centenary from countries all around the world.
