Ellis College of the New York Institute of Technology Program Review
Ellis College is committed to helping adult learners from a wide variety of backgrounds gain the educational resources they need to balance work and family while studying. Students will have access to accessible, career applicable and valuable degree programs that are taught by faculty and administered by a staff of caring and supportive individuals who care about students’ long term success.
Ellis College is a purely online school that is a part of the New York Institute of Technology. The NYIT was established in 1955 and has grown to be one of the premier producers of graduates in the computer and engineering programs. Students can take classes at the school’s main campus in New York, from one of its many global locations, or online with Ellis College. Ellis was established in 2003 so that students from all over the world could have access to the programs offered by the NYIT.
Just like its parent school, the NYIT, Ellis College specializes in programs that have to do with science and technology. Many of the school’s programs in computer graphics, engineering and IT are extremely well-regarded, and the school has a reputation for producing cutting edge research. Still, students should not feel that their education will lack in exposure to the humanities. The school mandates that students take a balanced class load and that both sides of the spectrum are explored to produce more well-rounded students.
As the online division of the NYIT, students will receive all their instruction and educational materials directly though the online platform. This can have its advantages, as it allows students to study at times when it’s most convenient for them. Students can expect to have exposure to the latest in online education technology which will make it easier to interact with classmates and professors from a distance. The school offers a wide variety of degree programs and majors with subjects that include Business Administration, Information Technology, Telecommunications Network Management, and Advertising.
