Iowa Central College Online Program Review
Iowa Central College wants to meet the needs of a diverse group of students within the local community and across the nation. The school aims to design its educational programs to be flexible, affordable and adapted to the needs of students from a variety of backgrounds so that all students will have access to the educational resources they need.
Iowa Central College came into being in 1966 to help bring new and much-needed educational resources to several smaller communities in Iowa. The school was created by combining three existing junior colleges into one larger, and more comprehensive institution. The school has three campuses throughout Iowa. The main campus is located in Fort Dodge, and two satellite campuses are in Webster City and Storm Lake. Students who do not live in the Iowa area or who simply can’t commit to on campus classes may be able to earn their degrees with the online programs offered by the school.
Students attending Iowa Central will have access to many different types of educational opportunities and programs of study. With degree programs in dozens of fields, there’s bound to be something at the college that can meet a majority of student’s needs. The school offers complete degree programs as well as career training and adult education programs to help students learn more and improve their career opportunities.
For those looking to take distance education courses with Iowa Central, there are a variety of options available, allowing students to tailor the programs to their own needs and desires. Students can enroll with the FlexNet program, which is taken entirely online and allows students to start the 15-week classes at any time during the year. For more independent students, a Guided Self Study program could work best, with students simply handing in course materials and projects at the end of the semester. If neither of those are suitable, students can enroll in an online program which follows the same schedule as on campus courses and allows students to interact with their instructor through a virtual classroom.
