Mountain State University Program Review

Mountain State University is committed to providing students with the means by which to earn undergraduate and graduate degrees that will be a valuable asset to their continued success and advancement in their careers and personal lives. The school wants students to develop a love of learning that they will take with them throughout their lives and to give aid and education to students of all backgrounds and needs.

In 1933, the university got its start at Beckley College. The school became a four-year institution in 1991, and in 2001 evolved into what is today Mountain State University. The school currently maintains five campuses that are spread over the East Coast of the United States. Students can take courses at campuses in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Florida and North Carolina, or with the school’s distance learning programs.

Mountain State is focused on providing students with learning opportunities that will help them get ahead in the fields of business, technology, health and human services. Students who are just starting out can get their undergraduate degrees, or those looking for advanced study can get graduate degrees. Programs are designed for both full-time students and those balancing work and educational commitments.

Distance learning with Mountain State can be a flexible and rewarding way for students to work towards a degree program. The school offers students a variety of options so that they can choose what best suits their goals and personal learning style. Students can opt for an entirely online program, independent study, or a special program called Cohorts that requires that students meet with classmates once a week to complete coursework. There are numerous programs that are available for distance learning study including Criminal Justice, Computer Science and Business.
