Regent University Program Review
Regent University’s mission is to provide educational excellence that reflects both a global and a Christian perspective. The school wants to help students find work in essential professions to help them to initiate world change as well as have a positive impact on their communities. The university aims to become a hub of Christian thought and action and to teach students and faculty the principles of truth, justice and love.
Regent University was founded in 1978 by well-known conservative Christian leader Pat Robertson. The school’s main campus is in Virginia Beach, VA, but there is a satellite campus in Alexandria, Virginia, as well as a distance learning campus that has been providing more flexible learning opportunities to students since the early eighties.
As a Christian university, Regent wants students to not only be exposed to academic guidance and education but to things that will deepen their spiritual beliefs as well. Students will hear from speakers who are leaders in the Christian community as well as well known politicians and public figures. The staff and faculty are highly qualified graduates of some of the nation’s most prestigious schools and will be happy to share their knowledge with students.
Regent’s online learning program allows students from all over the nation to take part in the Christian education programs offered by the school. Much of the class material is delivered in an asynchronous format which is geared towards those who are balancing work and school as well as other personal commitments. Online degrees are offered at the Bachelor's, graduate and doctoral levels in programs like English, global business, religious studies and theology.
