The college was founded in 1977 by Robert and Shirley Perry and today is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for community and junior colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. San Joaquin Valley College has campuses in Visalia, Fresno, Bakersfield, Modesto, Rancho Cordova and Rancho Cucamonga, California, as well as an extension campus in Hanford, an aviation campus in Fresno, and an online campus. Students can work towards Associate’s degrees and professional certifications at any of these locations.

San Joaquin College specializes in providing educational programs in the fields of technology, health and business. Students can work towards certification or an Associate’s degree at one of San Joaquin’s campuses or at their own pace with online study. The school tries to keep class sizes small so students can enjoy more individual attention as well as providing flexible scheduling, hands-on training and job placement assistance so students will have a greater chance of success in their careers.

Online classes at San Joaquin give students the opportunity to work quickly and within their existing schedules towards a degree or certification. Courses are only 5 weeks long, providing an accelerated learning pace for students. Students will be able to work at their own pace and participate actively in online discussions and classes. Currently, online degrees are available at the Associate’s level only, plus special professional certifications being available as well. Students can work towards degrees in fields like Construction Management, Medical Assisting, Criminal Justice Administration and more.
