Sterling College Program Review

Sterling College wants to provide students with opportunities and programs that will help them develop the creativity, critical thinking and leadership abilities they’ll need to be productive, successful professionals. Sterling College is committed to not only providing students with an academic foundation but giving them Christian spiritual guidance as well so that they’ll build integrity, an appreciation for their faith, a love of learning and a dedication to providing service to the community.

Sterling College was originally founded by the Synod of Kansas and the Presbyterian Church as the Cooper Memorial College all the way back in 1887. It was not until 1920 that the school became known by its current name, and today its campus is home to hundreds of students working through a variety of degree programs. The school has a main campus in Sterling, Kansas, as well as an online campus called eSterling which was created in 2007.

Students at Sterling will build not only their academic skills but will get a chance to work and serve their communities as well, making a positive impact both in their own lives and in the lives of others. Sterling College is one of only a few schools that offers a formal partner program with Habitat for Humanity International. Students will get volunteer opportunities as well as the chance to win fellowships through the organization that will allow them to complete a degree program in Social Entrepreneurship as well as have the opportunity to work with the organization after graduation.

eSterling offers students who cannot attend classes on campus the chance to enjoy the same Christian-centered education as those who can. Students will work with school faculty, advisors and other students to complete their coursework and learn more about their interests as well as about their spirituality. Resources like an online library make it easier for students to research from home no matter what major they choose. Students can several different Christian oriented programs online including Christian Ministries, Religion and Philosophy and Teacher Education.
